Join us for an afternoon of food and conversation on leading-edge approaches to education reform.

Guests will have a chance to get to know JSA students, including leaders from the vibrant JSA chapter at Alliance Charter School #5, where students and teachers have taken the JSA method to the next level with a school-wide, year-long simulation of L.A. city government. The event will also feature a conversation between Alliance for College-Ready Public Schools board member Frank Baxter, a retired financier and proponent of advancing education through blended learning techniques, and USC's Dan Schnur, a member of the Junior Statesmen Foundation Board of Trustees and a candidate for California Secretary of State.

Luminary, Platinum, Gold and Silver Sponsors will receive priority seating and will be invited to an intimate reception before the event (11 a.m. - 12 p.m.). All guests will enjoy a buffet lunch prepared from locally sourced ingredients.

All funds raised support the Junior State of America, with a portion of proceeds specifically supporting students at the Alliance for College-Ready Public Schools.

Since 1934, the Junior State of America (JSA) has helped more than 500,000 student leaders acquire the knowledge and skills necessary to be active, informed and responsible citizens, voters and leaders. SA allows students to experience first-hand the drama and power of politics as well as the challenges and responsibilities of leadership. JSA chapters serve as the center of political awareness at their schools and JSA conventions bring thousands of students together to share their opinions and learn from each other.

Alliance College-Ready Public Schools is the largest nonprofit charter organization in Los Angeles, comprised of 22 free, public charter high schools and middle schools serving 10,000 low-income students. Alliance schools significantly outperform traditional public schools in preparing students to enter and succeed in college by using an educational model based on high expectations of students, small and personalized campuses, a longer school year and instructional day, a team of highly effective teachers and principals and parents as partners in their child’s educational success.
