In the 1980s, Sandra Day O’Connor became the first female U.S. Supreme Court justice. The Iran-Contra scandal unfolded, a hole was discovered in the ozone layer, and President Reagan challenged Mikhail Gorbachev to tear down the Berlin Wall. In 1984, the Junior State of America held its first conference on the East Coast. By 1988, the Mid-Atlantic State formed, formally engaging East Coast students in JSA’s student-run approach to politics for the first time.
This fundraising team consists of students who graduated from JSA in the 1980s and continue to believe in the power of the Junior State of America. We’re celebrating JSA’s 80th anniversary by asking our friends, families, and fellow JSA’ers to invest in an organization that continues to make a huge impact on the lives of students across the U.S.
We want to ensure that every student who wants to participate in JSA can, regardless of family income. Your contribution makes that happen.
$100—or $9 a month—helps one future leader attend a convention; $300—or $25 a month—helps them attend for an entire year. $500 a month ensures one more student can attend our life-changing summer school.
