Matt Miller, former host of KCRW's "Left, Right & Center"

Matt Miller ran as a Democratic candidate for California's 33rd District congressional seat in 2104. His public policy work has included hosting public radio's "Left, Right & Center," penning a weekly column for The Washington Post and serving as a senior fellow at the Center for American Progress. Miller has a long history consulting to corporations, nonprofits and governments and recently joined LA-based financial services company, The Capital Group as a Senior Vice President. He is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations, and serves on the board of directors of the Partnership for LA Schools. Earlier in his career, Miller served as Senior Advisor in the Clinton White House Office of Management and Budget.

Since 1934, the Junior State of America (JSA) has helped well over 500,000 students acquire the knowledge and skills necessary to be active, informed and responsible citizens, voters and leaders. With its student-led, student-run school-year model and rigorous summer school programs, JSA allows students to experience first-hand the drama and power of politics as well as the challenges and responsibilities of leadership. JSA chapters serve as the center of political awareness at their schools and JSA conventions bring thousands of students together to share their opinions and learn from each other.

The Alliance for College-Ready Public Schools is the largest nonprofit charter organization in Los Angeles, comprised of 26 free, public charter high schools and middle schools serving 11,000 low-income students. Alliance schools significantly outperform traditional public schools in preparing students to enter and succeed in college by using an educational model based on high expectations of students, small and personalized campuses, a longer school year and instructional day, a team of highly effective teachers and principals and parents as partners in their child’s educational success.
